Michael Fassbender is about to embark on another journey that will see him lose a significant amount of weight. In the 2008 film Hunger, he portrays Irish nationalist Bobby Sands, played by the German-Irish actor. Due to his 66-day hunger strike in prison, the actor who portrays Sands had to be very thin.
To achieve this drastic alteration, Michael Fassbender began on a stringent diet. A diet of 900 calories and regular exercise resulted in a 42-pound weight loss for him. He described the procedure as “being in a psychological prison.”
