#32: Kahiki Supper Club
Polynesian cuisine doesn’t seem to fit the demands of very many diners these days, but people’s tastes were different in the decades following World War II. Polynesian culture was still fresh in the minds of many WWII vets, and a place like the Khaki Supper Club was a perfect fit. For a while, Kahiki Club was Ohio’s only tiki-themed restaurant.

As the years went on, fewer people craved the tiki experience. In 1997, the National Register of Historic Places added the Kahiki Supper Club to its growing list, but that wasn’t enough to bring back enough attention. Three years later, America’s largest tiki-themed restaurant had its torched snuffed and closed permanently.
