A Massive Rock
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that even the rocks in Australia are larger than life. Uluru Rock also called Ayer’s Rock is at the Red Center and is the biggest monolith in the world (single rock formation). It is taller than the Eiffel Tower at 348 meters and it would take you around 3.5 hours to walk around the base.
The local Aboriginal tribe, the Pitjantjatjara considers the rock sacred and calls it Anangu. Since October 2019, visitors have been banned from climbing the rock out of respect for the ancient culture of the locals. Uluru was also added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1987 for its unique geology and unique it is!
