Giant Hot Pink Slug
He’s huge, he’s slimy, he’s…hot pink? This intriguing looking critter is called the Triboniophorus aff. Graeffei and is only found in Mount Kaputar in Northern New South Wales. According to scientists, they can grow to a size longer than a human hand. The extraordinary color of these slugs serves as camouflage as they live in beds of red eucalyptus leaves.
Although bushfires destroyed a lot of their habitat, most of these unique creatures seem to have survived the fires and should bounce back soon enough. Even if you’re not a fan of slugs, you’ve got to agree that these little guys are kinda cute!
