The Star of Murfreesboro
John Pollock has got to be the world’s luckiest tourist. He discovered The Star of Murfreesboro, a large blue diamond while he was visiting the Arkansas Diamond Mine near Murfreesboro on March 1st, 1964. We know, it’s technically not his own backyard, but hey, the location can be considered someone’s backyard, right?
This diamond is the largest to be found by a tourist and is around 34.25 carats. Its original value was $15,000 but with inflation, its 2006 value is considered to be about $95,452. It’s still owned by the Pollock family and is occasionally loaned out to museums and gem shows. What a beauty!
