Green Beauty
When Terry Ledford was tending to the corn in his farmlands, the last thing he expected to find was a glistening piece of emerald and yet that’s exactly what he found in a pit. The farm was once well kown among treasure hunters and the owners charged $3 to shovel for small samples of emeralds.
The one found by Ledford is nearly 65-carats and is the largest cut emerald ever to be found in North America. Needless to say, a museum, as well as private collectors, showed interest in buying the stunning stone. Can we just say we’re green with envy?
