Shark Tank
Donald and Shawn Gibson were digging their yard to install a sunroom in their parent’s home when they kept discovering vertebrae until they had what appeared to be a complete shark skeleton. Although it was Halloween, they immediately called the authorities at Calvert Marine Museum who confirmed that the skeleton belonged to a snaggletooth shark which is 15 million years old.
According to paleontologists, there were more than 80 vertebrae and hundreds of teeth all from the same shark making this particular fossil more complete than any other of its kind in the world. Besides, it was a really well-preserved shark making this a one-of-a-kind find.
