I’m not always proud to be an American; the people here occasionally do things and hold attitudes that are less than ideal, and the country at large also does things and holds attitudes that are less than ideal, just at a much larger and potentially world-shaking scale.

But this one? This makes me proud to be an American. I happen to think that trying to be kind and personable to strangers is a positive thing, and not a negative. So, if that’s uniquely American, then let’s salute the flag and high-five an eagle, because God Bless America
