#29: A Welcome Response
How do you respond when someone tells you “Thank you”? The standard response, of course, is “You’re welcome,” but that can feel odd at times; it sounds a bit formal in a casual situation, and there is a part of me that almost feels like I’m being arrogant when I say it, like I’m acknowledging them acknowledging how amazing I am.
So what to say instead? “Of course” is nice and chill, or I’m a big fan of pretending that I’m Australian and saying, “No worries.” But I definitely see the appeal in “Uh huh.” It’s short, it’s to the point, and you don’t even have to go through the bother of forming real words. I may have to adopt this into my own lexicon.
