#38: Have a Great Day
We don’t have a lot of greeters in supermarkets where I’m from; generally, there are people at the door at Walmart, but that is usually to check your receipt on your way out and make sure you’re not shoplifting. And I don’t think that’s quite the same thing as someone warmly wishing you a good day.

But also, this seems like a weird complaint. I mean, of course it’s fake; most retail interactions are. The girl who helps me find a different shirt size at the store is just hoping to make a sale; the cashier telling me to have a nice day is required to say that by his boss. These people aren’t really my friends. Saying things that are more dutiful than sincere is just part of the retail process.
