Tabacco Enema
Believe it or not, in the 18th century, tobacco smoke enemas were actually considered a legitimate medical treatment for a wide range of ailments. Yes, you read that right. Doctors would literally blow tobacco smoke up a patient’s rectum in the hopes of curing everything from headaches to respiratory infections.
Today, we know that tobacco smoke is a highly toxic and dangerous substance that can cause a wide range of health problems, from lung cancer to heart disease. Thankfully, we can take comfort in the fact that we no longer have to resort to blowing tobacco smoke up our butts to treat diseases.
