Saw
Saw is a film franchise that saw its humble beginnings in 2004. The film only received $1.2 million to make from start to finish, but somehow, the first installment would rake in over $103 million globally. If you’ve never seen any of the films, you’re probably aware of who Billy the Puppet (pictured below) is.
Unlike other movies, Saw’s sequels didn’t receive a larger budget. Instead, the filmmakers worked with similar budgets but would go on to make a killing in theaters. The uniqueness of these horror-thriller films, combined with the talents of incredible horror movie directors, made the Saw franchise become a humungous success.
