Once
Back in the mid-2000s, nobody could have expected that the movie Once would become the success it was. Writer and director John Carney set the movie in Dublin, Ireland, with a measly budget of just under $150,000. Surprisingly, the movie would go on to gross $20.7 million in ticket sales.
Once is about a street musician who falls head-over-heels in love with a Czech immigrant through incredibly odd circumstances. They would communicate their love to each other through song, and the original soundtrack, falling Slowly, would win an Academy Award, as well as a Grammy nomination.
