Get Out
Comedian Jordan Peele, who made up half the hilarious Key & Peele duo, got his first chance to become a director in 2017. Get Out, a horror movie, only had a low budget (by Hollywood standards) of just $4.5 million, but when the movie hit theaters, it became an instant success.
Get Out grossed over $255 million worldwide, cementing Jordan’s name on the list of great directors of this generation. The movie, which was about a man in an interracial relationship, received four Oscar nominations, even though the movie was still 12 months away from its release.
