The Terminator
The Terminator was the world’s introduction to Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of the world’s most famous bodybuilders turned actor turned political figure. He played an indestructible android who traveled through time to do away with a waitress whose son would lead a revolt against machine-kind. This movie also made James Cameron, the director, a household name.
At first, the filmmakers had just $6.4 million to toy around with. This wasn’t a small cache of money at the time, but it was considerably less than many other blockbuster hits. The Terminator wound up raking in $78 million at the box office, bringing rise to several sequels and a comic book series.
