Juno
2007’s Juno was a game-changer for the topic of teen pregnancy. At the time, teen pregnancy was a serious topic, but the director, Jason Reitman, decided to take it to a more hysterical realm by making a teen comedy movie around the subject, and it really paid off!
With a semi-generous budget of $7.5 million, Juno managed to draw millions of viewers and gross $231 million from ticket sales. The success of the movie really catapulted Elliot Page to the front of Hollywood’s upcoming movie stars. There was a slight increase in teen pregnancies following the success of this movie, which some critics referred to as the “Juno Effect.”
