Trace Adkins
When it comes to country musicians, you can bet that more than half of them threw around a pigskin back in their high school and/or college days, and Trace Adkins is no exception. The Sarepta native played for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, like Phil Robertson, after a rather successful high school career.
However, before his freshman season was over, he experienced a season-ending knee injury, which pretty much forced him out of the team. After that, he focused on playing guitar and coming up with honky-tonk bars. In 1994, he was discovered by Capitol Nashville and signed on the spot.
