Ron Simmons
You probably know Ron Simmons as a WCW and WWF wrestler who went under the pseudonym Farooq. But before he sported tight spandex that left very little to the imagination, he actually had a pretty great career as a football player in college and the NFL.
In college, Ron played for Florida State University for four years as a nose guard. During the most valuable college football player vote, he was at the ninth spot in 1979. FSU ultimately retired his jersey number (50), which was the third time that the university gave a player such honors. After college, he was drafted by NFL’s Cleveland Browns before dropping to the USFL and playing for Ottawa and Tampa Bay.
