Some paintings are usually based on historical scenes and genres, which was also the style of the English painter, John Callcott Horsley. He was also known to be the designer of the very first Christmas card for Henry Cole. He was often referred to as Mr. J. C(lothes) Horsley for his strong protest against nude paintings.
Aside from the very first Christmas card, one of his greatest works of all time is The Poet’s Theme where you can see two poets, one of them looking directly at the other. Varkey still found a way to incorporate modernism and changed the paper into a phone. The added conversation was the cherry on top. This is absolutely comedy perfection.
