Boil your wooden spoons
Wooden utensils typically have a finish that seals its pores to prevent bacteria from getting in. But over time, the finish will eventually disappear, and your wooden spoons will become the perfect partying grounds for all sorts of microorganisms. But as we already know, bacteria absolutely hates heat.
What you can do to remove the funky smells from wooden spoons is drop them in a pot of boiling water. You can even add a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice to the pot for good measure. After about five minutes of boiling, remove the spoons and let them air-dry.
