6. It’s Barely Even a Joke
Once again, Dude with a Sign is right on target. We’ve all heard this joke at least once (or once too many), though probably many times. It’s New Year’s Eve or close to the end of the year, and people jokingly say that they’ll “see you next year”. And then they laugh, as if it’s the funniest joke one can say, and it’s oh-so-original.
Sure, we all chuckle along as if we’ve never heard that joke for the last so many years of our lives. We don’t want to offend anyone, after all. But it’s time to retire the joke. It’s been overused. It’s no longer funny! Of course, if it’s funny to you, that’s totally fine – but use it sparingly.
