Poltergeist
When you think of Spielberg, your immediate brainwave goes to E.T or Jurassic Park, which is totally fair. The funny thing is, is that Spielberg released both E.T. and Poltergeist within months of each other, yet one is always pushed to the sidelines. Perhaps it has to do with the title, Poltergeist, referencing a malicious spirit that takes host in the Freeling household.

The little hints that are placed in the film are minor but effective. Once you notice them, everything becomes more chilling. Just like most ghost movies, there is a scene in which the mother, Diane is dragged across her ceiling in a truly horrific instance. Minutes before this horrific scene begins, she has a dresser containing many frames, one of which is a photo of her daughter, Carol Anne. Shortly after the terrorizing scene begins, the photo has been replaced by the face of some sort of demon. Goosebumps.
