The Exorcist
Is it just me or does The Exorcist sort of rule every other type of horror film? Something about the 1973 version screams “I am the original horror film” (even though it’s really, really not). You know the drill, a satanic force possesses a young girl, many priests take it in turns to try and exorcise the demon out of the girl.

None of the priests actually succeed, that is until the last priest, Damian Karras attempts for the demon to switch hosts with his body, and succeeds. Damian Karras’s character is shown throughout the film to have struggled with his mother’s passing. In order to rid himself of the demon, he purges himself out of a window, and sees his mother’s face for a brief moment against the curtains. Talk about a sentimental Easter egg.
