The Silence of the Lambs
If you live on planet earth, you have probably heard of The Silence of the Lambs. It is a story about Dr. Hannibal Lecter played by the great Anthony Hopkins, and if his name doesn’t give it away, it is a film about an ex-psychiatrist turned cannibal serial killer. One of Hopkins’ more famous lines from the film, “A census-taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti”, eludes to a nice Easter egg.

This quote lets the audience know that he was planning his escape. There was a point in history where psychiatric patients were being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Which in turn make certain things like red wine, fava beans, and liver rather threatening for them. It’s a hard one to pick up on, but it seems as though Dr. Hannibal Lecter was no longer taking his medication and, well, truly executing his escape.
