Clumped-up salt, pepper, or sugar? Put a few rice grains in the shaker
If you live in a humid part of the world, our condolences. There’s no way you can successfully shake salt or pepper out of their shakes, and when you do, only a few grains of the stuff fall out. The same goes for sugar. Humidity in the air can cause the crystals to form into one indestructible ball.
To stop sugar, salt, and pepper from clumping up, just throw a few grains of rice in the shaker. The dry rice will hoover up any moisture that enters the shaker, sort of like how rice draws moisture away from wet smartphones.
