Deep frying? Use a chopstick to see if the oil is fry-ready
If you’ve ever watched cooking videos on YouTube, the snobby chefs will always tell you to heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before plopping your chicken wings in the bath. Nobody has an oil thermometer, and if they do, they’re probably sharing how-to-cook videos on YouTube!
Don’t waste your money on an oil thermometer. Instead, get a clean chopstick and dip it into the oil. If bubbles appear, that means the oil is hot and ready to fry your food to a delicious crisp. Or you should probably consider getting an air fryer if you want to feel superior to non-air-fryer-owning people.
