Hiccups? Tickle your uvula with a cotton ball
Every family has its own trick to get rid of hiccups. Some traditional methods are to have someone scare the daylights out of you. Another go-to method is by swallowing a spoonful of sugar. However, this Japanese-inspired life hack to get rid of the hiccups might be the most effective way.
Take a small cotton ball and shove it into your mouth, making sure not it into a tiny, compacted ball. Now, attempt to tickle your uvula (that teardrop-shaped piece of flesh hanging in the back of your throat) with the cotton ball. It might take a minute or two until you feel the urge to cough. When you do, remove the cotton ball and enjoy living the hiccup-free life.
