Mailmen Share Strange and Comical Moments on the Job

March 10, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Working as a mailman is a lot more dangerous than people think. Things like angry pit bulls chasing them down the block to irate customers ramming their trucks off the streets are common occurrences in the life of a letter carrier. These are only a few instances of what mailmen have to deal with. It may seem like an easy job, but believe it or not, mailmen put their lives on the line every time they put on their blue pants and hats. Here are 50 by mailmen who’ve made it through some challenges and share their stories with us.

The scariest package

Something most people don’t know about being a mailman is that they carry around some pretty weird items. It’s not that mailmen are inherently weird, but it’s the people who send stuff through mail that are. You’d be surprised by how often mailmen have to carry around the remains of the departed.

No, we don’t mean they lug around the bodies, but rather the ashes of cremated relatives. Nobody really knows what’s in the boxes mailmen load onto their trucks. Plus, there’ve been numerous cases of urns actually leaking and spilling all over the place. Definitely not a pretty thought!
