Just Hang Up
We read somewhere that if a call support officer asks you to wait, they’re not actually stepping away from the phone. What they’re doing is going through their answer book, asking a colleague, or Googling the answer. So, whatever you say, they will hear.
This person received a pretty inappropriate phone call from one angry customer. Due to their constant nagging, the OP put them on mute and never bothered to answer their queries again. They waited and waited until the customer finally gave up and hung up the phone. We hope the next officer also gave them the mute-until-they-hung-up treatment.
