Stealing ducks
Over with our English friends, this story-teller recounts an occasion when she went to feed her usual ducks at her local pond and saw some children harassing the wildlife. Wanting to save her feathered friends, the woman threw some food in her end of the pond to tempt the ducks out of the way.
This didn’t go down well with the father of the brood, who accused her of “stealing the ducks” and acted in a very aggressive manner! Her question was whether she’d been right to intervene in the situation. She obviously felt a personal responsibility toward the ducks, which was maybe misplaced. However, I feel as if the dad’s reaction was a bit much, especially considering his children’s behavior. Also, I’m not sure you can steal wild ducks by moving them to another end of the pond.
