When your robot doesn’t trust you
For decades now, authors have been writing about what the world will look like in the 21st century. Some of their predictions are way, way off, such as flying cars being commonplace, space travel is still too expensive for the average person, and robot barbers are nowhere near being ready for human test subjects.
But the one prophecy of the late-1800s to mid-1990s that turned out to be spot-on was the prediction that robots would rule our lives. For example, you need to prove to a robot that you yourself are not a robot. We find it offensive that a robot would test our humanity by having us point out pictures of bikes. It won’t be long before these security measures will have us composing poems to prove our humanity.
