Doing what our parents warned us not to do
If you don’t remember what the internet was like in the 1990s, it was a lawless hellscape where the information you were looking for was not on the first page of Yahoo or other search engines. Also, our parents warned us not to share private information with online strangers. If you gave out your address, you basically painted a target on your forehead.
Today, we share private information with complete strangers in our city before willingly hopping into our vehicles. Our 1998-selves would probably be screaming at us for being so blatantly stupid. Also, we willingly wiretap our homes with listening devices connected to other wiretaps that allegedly make our lives easier.
