”MLK Jr. is Not Who You Think He is”: We Didn’t Know These Historical Figures Were Incredibly Problematic Until Now

Winston Churchill helped lead Britain to victory in World War II and was undeniably a great leader, but that doesn’t mean he was perfect. In fact, his actions in India were pretty indefensible, and his racism was definitely not cool. Churchill’s policies in India led to famine and the deaths of millions of people.

We can still appreciate Churchill’s contributions to history while also acknowledging his flaws. It’s like when your favorite band releases a not-so-great album. You still love them, but you can admit that it’s not their best work. Clearly, historical figures are complex, and we must be aware of their successes and shortcomings.
