To outdo Cunard, the White Star Line commissioned the Titanic and its siblings, the R.M.S. Olympic and R.M.S. Britannic, drawing design inspiration from Cunard’s Mauretania for luxurious interiors that hinted at unmatched elegance and innovation at sea.
