Among his victims was Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel. The year 2008 saw his fall from grace, not at the hands of the law, but betrayed by his own flesh and blood, his sons, who exposed his monumental “one big lie”.
At 71, the infamous Madoff was handed a 150-year prison sentence, a fate less perilous, he claimed, than New York’s streets. Despite skirmishes behind bars, he found solace in the supportive shouts of fellow inmates. A plea for clemency from President Trump fell on deaf ears, and at 82, Madoff breathed his last in the confines of his cell, succumbing to heart and kidney ailments.
