Crayon
This shows the change of accents in America but in possibly the strangest way possible. Instead of studying how accents change as you travel east to west or vice versa, they compared how people say the word ‘crayon’. At the bottom part of the map, there is a tiny table that explains everything.
We had no idea that the pronunciation of crayon could be so different from state to state. Some say it with different endings and others say it just as ‘crown’. The nation is really divided on this and you can see how language and local manners of speaking have spread everywhere.
