#10: Turning the Tables
We love this clever ad campaign that was created to promote the women’s Gaelic soccer season. Women’s soccer has come under scrutiny in recent years for underpaying its athletes and practicing unequal treatment compared to male soccer leagues. This ad deals with some of that bad press by creating an inspiring campaign that centers the players people know and love.
The ad features a beautifully shot image of a soccer player holding a ball next to her belly. For all intents and purposes, it looks like a maternity photo. That was exactly the point because the ad reads, “The most important nine months of a woman’s life.” We love how this ad takes gender norms and expectations and turns them on their heads. Women can be just as passionate and dedicated to a sport as men!
