#18: Chaunté Lowe: Always Get Back Up
Chaunté Lowe’s story is truly inspiring. She is a high jump athlete who has competed in four Olympic Games and won a Bronze medal in 2008. She holds the American record for the highest women’s high jump, as well. Lowe has faced some health challenges in the last few years that have put her athletic pursuits on hold, but she’s not letting obstacles hold her back.
Lowe was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and underwent chemotherapy treatment. She has recently beat the disease, and is using her platform to advocate for early breast cancer detection. She is also an advocate for speaking up and asking questions in the doctor’s office, where many women often feel that they are not heard. Lowe has said she will continue to train and hopes to return to the Olympics for the fifth time.
