#13: Lynn Hill: Incredible Rock Climber
Lynn Hill is considered by many to be one of the best rock climbers in the world. She made a name for herself in 1993 when she accomplished what no human had accomplished before. She was the first person, male or female, to free climb The Nose, an arduous route on Yosemite’s famous El Capitan formation. It took her four days, but Hill went on to top herself by repeating the same climb and completing it in just 24 hours the second time around.
Hill was not only proud to achieve this feat as a climber – she was especially proud to be a woman at that moment. Hill inspired many women to take up the sport of rock climbing, and she pushed the boundaries of what was humanly possible for climbers around the world. No one successfully attempted The Nose for another 12 years after Hill.
