The Fiercest Female Athletes Who Are Beyond Inspiring

August 3, 2010 by Jesse Olson

#37: Trischa Zorn: American Swimmer Extraordinaire

Trischa Zorn has made a name for herself as one of the most accomplished Paralympian swimmers in history. She has won a whopping 55 medals, 41 of them being Gold medals. That makes her the most decorated athlete to ever participate in the Paralympic Games. Hailing from Orange, California, Zorn has been blind since birth and began swimming at 10 years of age.

She took the sport of swimming by storm in 1980 by setting several world records and taking home seven Gold medals. After the 2000 Games, she held eight world records in the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter backstroke, and several other categories. She was inducted into the International Paralympian Hall of Fame in 2012. She now works with military veterans and helps them adjust and get involved with Paralympic sports.
