Wildlife recorder
Here’s another lesson for everyone that ventures out into the wilderness: if you see something that doesn’t belong to you, don’t touch it. This includes messing with bushes, picking up baby chipmunks and squirrels, and leaving wildlife recording devices alone. Thankfully, this guy’s friends were smart enough to tell the OP to leave this device untouched.
Redditors commended the guy’s friend for advising him to not disturb the wildlife recorder. Someone was doing research and could have lost all of their data had the OP picked the device up and tossed it a hundred feet into the distance. But if you want to mess up the guy’s research, let the device record weird noises from your smartphone.
