Prevents mugs from suctioning themselves to tables
Designers don’t just have to come up with things that make a product look nice. There’s also the functionality part that many people don’t consider. For instance, have you ever had trouble picking up a mug from a table because it suctioned itself onto the surface? If you have, here’s the solution.
This guy purchased a mug from IKEA and had no idea why there was a slight gap on the base. This gap is supposed to let air out and prevent negative pressure buildup, allowing the mug to lift off of a table effortlessly. Who says IKEA doesn’t put thought into functionality? Nobody? Oh.
