#4: “We’re On It”
Widespread marketing campaigns usually want to generate buzz and raise awareness. In order to do that these days, you have to go viral. South Dakota’s government launched an anti-methamphetamine campaign in 2019 to fight the rising addiction problem in the state. However, their marketing campaign went viral for all the wrong reasons.
The campaign’s slogan was “Meth. We’re on it.” This image is just one of the many examples included in the campaign. They meant “we’re on it” as a way to say they were busy taking care of the rising drug problem in the state. We don’t have to tell you it can be interpreted in a different way. We’re not sure if South Dakota’s marketing team intended for this double meaning, but that’s exactly what people noticed.
