There are very few instances where the phrase “calm down” actually calms another person down. In fact, most of the time, it can lead to the opposite effects. The initially calm person can become irritated by your insinuating that they’re flying off the handle when they’re clearly not.

But back to the mansplaining in hand. How did this person become a boss at a school when it’s clear none of the students respect him, he hasn’t been in the educational system for long, and he’s not very personable? But the worst part is how he mansplains while not even answering the question.
