How In-Salt-ing
The last time we studied chemistry was roughly 800 years ago in the 11th grade. Still, we know what NaCL is without having to Google it. It’s salt. Regular old table salt that you use to give flavor to french fries. Nothing more, nothing less. You can quiz us on it and double-check your answer on the internet to verify that we’re right.
But if you’re going to quiz a chemical engineer—someone whose career revolves around mixing chemicals to see what causes explosions—maybe choose a compound that’s not so condescending. Ask them what dihydrogen oxide is and why we consume it, even though it causes iron to rust.
