Practice a Lot
As non-clarinet players, our sole piece of advice to anyone who wants to play the clarinet is this: practice, practice, practice. You don’t become a master of the instrument like Squidward by letting your clarinet collect dust in its case. You actually have to put in the time and work to play first clarinet in an orchestra.
Oh, this woman did put in the work. So, what is her father, a non-music-playing person, doing? There’s only so much a parent can do to support their children’s hobbies/jobbies. After that, let them take hold of the reins and guide their own lives.
