Child Rearing Has Changed
From generation to generation, a lot can change, especially when it comes to parenting styles. In this tweet, Bryan Behar illustrates part of that change perfectly. He points out that when Gen Xers were young, they would disappear for half a day at a time. Today, parenting norms are a bit different.

Bryan points to the popular show Caillou as an example. Not only is the main character not allowed to play alone, but he also can’t even manage to go down a slide by himself. Clearly, new parents are coddling their kids a bit more than was once common, but it can be hard to tell when a need for safety crosses the line into overprotectiveness.
