You probably think the man sitting across from you is totally unaware, doesn’t care about other people’s space, and has never even heard of the term “man-spreading.” However, most of us are much more self-aware than you know. We just have the competing consideration of discomfort down where it counts.

In the same way that women have all sorts of bodily factors that determine how comfortable or uncomfortable they are at a given time in a given place, we have those factors, too. So we know it can be pretty annoying, and we do apologize, but we promise we have no ill intent, just chafing.
