1981-82 NCAA Champions
Speaking of the NCAA Championship, he won the trophy during his freshman year in college. Thanks to his leadership, despite being a mere 19-year-old at the time, he led the Tar Heels to become the number-one seed in the East during the 1981-82 NCAA season. They beat Houston in five points before facing off against Georgetown in the finals.

It was during the finals match against Georgetown where MJ faced off against his future rival in the NBA, Patrick Ewing. MJ scored 16 points and recorded nine rebounds and two assists to send Patrick and the Georgetown Hoyas home trophy-less.
