5% Royalty on Every Air Jordan Pair Sold
We know that Michael Jordan licensed his likeness to Nike until the end of time, but he only made $500,000 on the original deal. However, the royalties he earned from every pair of Air Jordans sold was what made him a billionaire.

For every pair of Air Jordans sold, MJ takes home 5% of that. So, on average, he makes about $4.50 per pair sold (new mass-produced Jordans go for about $90). The royalties per pair sold sounds like peanuts, but in 2014, Nike sold over 2 million pairs and gave MJ a $100-million check for his part in the deal.
